Don't be put off a self driving holiday in Uganda. With the exception of Kampala where driving can be for those with brave hearts, once you are out of Kampala( or once we drive you out of Kampala) you should be able to hack it on your own. You would only need to dodge the odd pothole in the middle of the road, and sometimes a crossing cow or goat. Don't worry as our vehicles are regularly checked for brakes and highly maintained and serviced.
We provide back up self drive vehicles so that you have an un-interrupted self drive holiday tour in Uganda and cross border into Rwanda if you happen to travel to both countries. Unlike most companies, we have self drive cars stationed in both Kampala and Kigali. So if your rental 4x4 car breaksdown (very unlikely) when you are in Bwindi, we would dispatch a car repair mechanic with a replacement self drive car from Kigali not Kampala. Our aim is to get to you wherever you may be within a maximum of 5 hours.
In addition to providing self drive Uganda cars, we offer camping gear for rental at very competitive prices. Our camping gear is imported from the UK to guarantee you quality stuff. We shall also assist you purchase your gorilla and chimp permits, and same would be handed over to you when we hand over your self drive hire car at Entebbe Airport. GPS is not really required as directions in Uganda are straightforward. However if you prefer to get one, we would be happy to arrange one for you. For those whose cellphones are unable to roam while overseas, we can arrange for rental of a fairly cheap but functional phone to enable you stay in touch with either folks back home or the office for self drive renters who have to stay in contact even when sighting a tree climbing lion in Ishasha.
If your self drive itinerary takes you to Rwanda, you don't have to worry about swapping cars at Katuna border crossing. We shall avail you the necessary paperwork and COMESA insurance to enable you take the car over to Rwanda and you continue with your self drive tour of Rwanda. If you are flying out of Kigali, we organise one way rentals, so that you drop off your self drive 4x4 car at our Kigali offices or Kigali Airport.
